Important Notice
- This product is designed for indoor residential and light commercial use only. Do not installin outdoor areas, pool areas, saunas, open or sun-exposed rooms, or other high-moisture environments.
- This product must be installed using the floating installation method only.
- Installation should be carried out by a qualified flooring installer or licensed tradesperson.
- Environmental conditions during and after installation must be maintained between 15°C –30°C and relative humidity 30% – 75% (ATFA Guidelines).
- Under Australian Consumer Law (ACL), these installation guidelines form part of thewarranty conditions. Failure to follow these instructions may void the product warranty.
Before Installation
Storage & Acclimatisation:
- Store cartons flat in a dry, shaded, and well-ventilated area.
- Allow flooring to acclimatise in the installation environment for at least 48 hours before installation.
Subfloor Requirements:
- Suitable subfloors: concrete, plywood, OSB, ceramic tiles, or other solid surfaces.
- Unsuitable subfloors: carpet, carpet underlay, existing floating floors.
- Flatness: maximum 3mm over 3m (ATFA Guidelines, NCC Tolerances).
- Moisture content: Timber/wood-based subfloors ≤ 14% (ATFA Standard); Concrete ≤ 2.5% CM Method (ATFA & ASTM F2170).
Moisture Barrier (Mandatory in Queensland):
- A minimum 200 μm polyethylene moisture barrier must be installed over concrete subfloors (AS 2870 – Residential Slabs and Footings, NCC Volume 2 Part 3.2.2.6).
- Overlaps must be ≥200mm and seams sealed with moisture-resistant tape.
- Exemption only applies if written certification confirms the subfloor has an integrated damp-proof membrane.Acoustic Requirements (Apartments & Multi-Storey Buildings):
- Although the product includes an attached acoustic underlay, additional acoustic underlayment may be required to comply with NCC Volume 1, F5.5 Acoustic Requirements and Body Corporate by-laws (e.g., AAAC 5-star rating).
Heating Systems
Compatible with hydronic underfloor heating systems if installed and operated according to the heating system manufacturer’s guidelines.
Electric underfloor heating is permitted, provided:
- The surface temperature does not exceed 27°C (ATFA Guidelines), and
- The heating system is installed with gradual temperature controls.
Rapid heating or cooling cycles must be avoided.
Expansion & Layout
- Maintain 6–10mm expansion gaps at all walls, door frames, pipes, and fixed objects (ATFA Guidelines).
- Maximum continuous installation area: 12m length or width. For larger areas, use expansion joints or transition trims (ATFA Standard).
- Do not install permanent fixtures such as kitchen cabinets or islands directly on top of the floating floor.
Installation Steps
- Plan the layout so the last row is at least 5cm wide and board end pieces are at least 30cm long (ATFA Standard).
- Stagger end joints by at least 30cm in adjacent rows.
- Lock boards together using the tongue-and-groove system at a slight angle, then drop and tap gently into place using a tapping block and rubber mallet.
- Avoid overuse of force to protect locking mechanisms.
After Installation
- Clean with a broom or vacuum with soft bristles.
- Mop with a lightly damp mop and vinyl-appropriate cleaner. Do not use steam mops.
- Wipe up spills immediately.
